Welcome to week four of NPR's wild ride during the "The Way We Work" 30th Anniversary Show at Southern Exposure.
Week 3 ended with Hip Hop Slam and DMZ and DJ Dawgisht, Mike, Billy Jam, and Tim spent four hours sculpting vinyl in ways you would never imagine. There was even a call-in to DJ Pone at the Love Parade. DJ Pone also joined us on Friday to DJ for the kids at the DJ Project and then he stuck around to provide beats for Andre, the Urban Hermit during an interview with Juba from Deep Dick Collective. Juba and Andre talked about the 4th annual Homohop Festival going on at 21 Grand in Oakland on October 22nd, 23rd and 24th as part of "Friday's with Kitchen Sink". Pone filled out his appearance by hanging around to talk about the Norcal DJ and Music Production Academy and even giving us a little lesson on scratching basics.
This week brings a Saturday filled with Improvisational groups curated by local musician Jim Ryan. From 1 - 5 pm on Saturday, check out the sounds of Hideous Dream, Forward Energy, Left Coast Improv Group, Twine, and Electronico/Politico live in the gallery 401 Alabama or on the radio at 88.9FM.
Stay tuned for an announcement later this week linking to MP3 files of most of the performances to date. Also we may be announcing some sort of a closing event for October 23rd, so keep the date free.
Thanks for your support.
